PEDIGREE
The day Alia arrived home in Canberra it snowed (it doesn't snow very often in Canberra, especially in May). The next day she decided to go swimming in the pool. She spent the rest of the morning next to the fireplace - personally, I think she did it on purpose. She was a great lover of water, as were many of her kids. Alia had personality plus and this was often displayed in the Show ring as she bounced and spun her way around. Princess Alia would spend her time sitting in her chair watching all around her (yes she had her own chair - it stopped her pinching everyone else’s). Alia collapsed whilst playing with her kids in the morning. It turned out she has a mass by her heart that had ruptured. She died too early, but she does live on in her children and grandchildren.
Very willing to please, she did wonderfully at puppy class in Obedience and graduated easily. She is now in Novice and is doing equally well (when I find the time to take her and she decides that she does know what ‘drop’ means). Alia and I gained her Endurance Title (ET) on 14th July 2002. Alia was 7 weeks into a False Pregnancy at the time and thought running 20km was easy but rather boring and pointless. She yawned most of the way around!
Alia gained her show title at 15 months of age. She was a qualifier in the ACTCA's Puppy of the Year - 2000 (only one other hound qualified) and gained second place in the ACTCA Guineas heat. Alia was a Best Exhibit & Runner Up Best Exhibit in the Hound Group winner, as well as multiple class in group wins at every age level. She has also did very well under Breed Specialists with Best Of Breeds, Challenges and class wins.
After months of near misses, Alia gained both her Novice Agility (AD) & Novice Jumping (JD) Titles on the same weekend & even got two spare Qualifications. She also has her ‘Agility Australia’ Novice Jumping Certificate (NJC). Alia also was the only Ridgeback to qualify for the Novice Agility Final at the 2004 Agility Nationals.Alia was retired from the show ring to become a mum and had 2 litters. The first in 2003 to Aust Ch Lionsbane Hes The Boss (Caesar and Ginny were kept) and the second in 2004 to Takunda Imp Zimbabwe (Saba was kept, with brothers Toby & Strider also in the show ring). Due to the success of Alia’s kids, she was named 3rd most successful Dam in Show at the 2005 Sydney RR Speciality.
